“ We were seated quickly despite no reservations on a Friday night. The show was the typical hibachi show. The food was really good. I had the filet, and my son choose the chicken and steak combo. They add noodles to the plate as well. The price was good as well. The location is small, but they pack in 6-8 hibachi tables along with 8-10 table tops for straight menu order. ”

“ During my vacation in Tallahassee, I have been craving Japanese steakhouse food. I know Kobe's chain has spoiled me so much, but they are mostly in Orlando and Tampa. I needed to find something similar. Thankfully my hotel recommended Nagoya. It was only 10 minutes from my hotel, so I drove and parked at the strip. When I arrived, I was told a 15 minute wait for hibachi seating, but my hostess found an empty seat immediately. I was seated next to a family. I ordered the steak and shrimp (31 dollars). The soup and salad came first, at the same time. The soup was a nice onion soup like Kobe's, but it came lukewarm. It was still a great soup. The salad came with fresh lettuce, cucumber, and other veggies in a nice ginger sauce. A couple minutes later, our chef came. He woke us up by banging the cooking utensils and small performance eh them, then lighting the table on fire, which I could feel the heat. The rice, noodles, and vegetables were cooked first. Our chef cut one broccoli into smaller pieces, then offered us to catch the broccoli while he threw it into our mouths. Unfortunately , I couldn't catch it as it hit my eye instead. No worries as my small confidence failure was alleved by a long squirt of sake by the chef as a consolation prize. For the kids, it was juice squirts instead. Then he cooked the meats and asked the requested temperature of the steak. I didn't recall any other tricks than doing the flambe for the steak and shrimp. The cooking show lasted about 20 - 25 minutes. The food was very delicious and plentiful. I enjoyed the steak as it came tender since I ordered it rare. The shrimp were plump, and had a plentiful amount. The rice had the garlic butter included to give it the perfect flavor. Same with the noodles, but I felt it was too sweet with the teriyaki sauce. The food was so much, that I only ate half of it and saved the other half the next day. The quality and amount was well worth 31 dollars. The service was fine and my server got the job done. The soup and salad came in a timely manner, but they were cleared only 1/2 way after the chef started cooking. After the show, checks and doggie bags were given, but I wished my server helped with opening the plastic bag. The atmosphere looked very casual, and almost like a cafeteria. There was an ample amount of hibachi tables as well as regular tables, and a small bar area too. During rush hour (6pm - 9pm) , there is a time limit of 90 minutes. I will say this is indeed a nice Japanese steakhouse, but I am very spoiled by Kobe's with their silliness and tricks from the chefs. While I did enjoy the catch the broccoli game and the sake squirting, I wished there were more goofiness from the chefs, and more tricks. Also, we definitely need the stereotypical volcano too, that was missing here. So it looks like this steakhouse focuses more on the food quality and quantity, which is always a good thing too. I am definitely visiting here again for tasty Japanese food, and would love to see more tricks when I come back. :) ”

“ I had heard of Nagoya as a good place for hibachi. Or at least it was formerly so. I can't judge as I haven't had hibachi there. What I have had is their sushi special for lunch that I ordered from Uber Eats during my stay in Tallahassee. Have to say I was godsmacked at the amount of food. I ordered their special that consisted of three sushi rolls and a side of either miso soup or salad. Now I don't know if I misread or they messed up, but I ended up with both a miso soup and a salad. As for the sushi itself, I was shell shocked at the size. In a good way. If you're not a voracious eater, I think this can easily be split into two meals. Seeing as I was starved and didn't like one of the sushi rolls, I ate the majority of it. For the sushi rolls, I chose the California roll, the shrimp avocado roll, and a spicy tuna roll. Again, I really liked all except for one. That spicy tuna roll was just disgusting. It felt cheap. I had one piece and that was enough. The other two rolls were amazing though. Very fresh and highly recommendable. The miso soup hit the spot, too, all warm and cozy, along with an appetizing salad. Seriously they dropped the ball with the spicy tuna roll. If it weren't for that spicy tuna roll, I'd easily rate this place five stars (at least in terms of what they send out for delivery). Sadly, either I had bad luck or I'm just not a fan. I'm hoping it was the latter. ”
